The Key to Smooth Bookkeeping: How Keeper App is Changing the Game for Accounting Firms

As a bookkeeper, staying on top of your tasks and deadlines is crucial for keeping your clients' books up-to-date and accurate. We've tried and tested tons of different task management systems to stay organized and one stands high above them all -- Keeper! This task management platform is specifically designed for bookkeepers, and it has quickly become a game changer for accounting firms worldwide. Let's dive into how Keeper will change the game in your accounting firm.

Let me start by saying there are some pretty awesome task management platforms out there. We're big fans of ClickUp but have also worked in Asana, Monday.com, Trello, KarbonHQ, Jetpack Notion... the list goes on. We're no strangers to trying to find the perfect system for our business.

When we first learned about Keeper, we were immediately intrigued. The main attraction is that it connects with QuickBooks Online in a way that offers some really incredible efficiencies like identifying expense inconsistencies, removing vendor and customer duplicates, and helping with uncategorized transactions. Sound too good to be true already? We thought so too. But it just keeps getting better!

Here are the game-changing features we've experienced with Keeper!

It's User-Friendly Interface

One of the biggest benefits of Keeper is its user-friendly interface. With an intuitive dashboard, it's easy for bookkeepers and their employees to track their tasks and stay on top of their deadlines. Whether you're working on monthly bookkeeping, tax preparation, or any other task, Keeper makes it simple to assign tasks, set deadlines, and monitor progress. In one easy-to-read dashboard view, you can see which clients are completed, where team members are waiting on the client, who is stuck on an issue, how many reconciliations (or other tasks) are outstanding, notes or questions about the client, and so much more. It's color-coded and offers customization so you can view the information most important to you.

The QuickBooks Online Integration

Another key advantage of Keeper is its integration with QuickBooks Online. With just a few clicks, bookkeepers can connect their QuickBooks accounts to Keeper, making it easy to manage client bookkeeping adjustments and stay on top of important deadlines. This integration also allows bookkeepers to track employee time and expenses, which can be automatically imported into QuickBooks for accurate record-keeping (if that's where you run payroll) or easily imported into any other payroll platform. Here are some of our favorite Keeper to QBO sync efficiencies:

  • Keeper has a Chrome extension with some pretty incredible benefits inside of QuickBooks Online like allowing you to ask your client a question directly from the bank screen about a transaction.

  • The transaction without payees connection allows us to easily see and change when a transaction has been entered without a vendor name. You can put the vendor name directly into Keeper and it'll update QBO with the adjustment!

  • The 1099 prep function was life-changing for us this last January! Keeper easily identifies who needs a 1099 (removing payments made by credit card or ineligible transactions). Keeper then gives you the ability to reach directly out to your client or the vendor to request the W-9 which it then updates in QBO with all necessary information. Trust me - we're skimming this but if this is all Keeper did, it'd be worth it!

  • Financial report reviews made simple. Keeper syncs all major reports and allows for an insane amount of detail so you can ensure accuracy while looking for areas of advisory for your client.

Emphasis on Collaboration and Communication

But what really sets Keeper apart from other task management platforms is its emphasis on collaboration and communication. With Keeper, bookkeepers and their employees can easily communicate about tasks, share files, and get updates on progress. This level of transparency and collaboration can help accounting firms work more efficiently and effectively, while also improving client satisfaction.

Overall, Keeper is the best task management platform for bookkeepers because of its user-friendly interface, integration with QuickBooks Online, and emphasis on collaboration and communication. If you're looking for a powerful, yet easy-to-use tool to help you manage your bookkeeping tasks, look no further!
